UX Design Case Studies

View My UX Design Work

My UX Design projects are one-off design projects I do daily to improve in some areas of UX Design such as Visual Design, Interaction Design, UX Writing, etc.

UX Design Case Studies are projects completed using the entire UX Design process from empathizing & defining the problem to usability studies,  wireframing, and prototyping, with research, testing, and iterations.

My UX Design Case Studies

PBD Podcast App UX Design by Jabez Roberts

PBD Podcast App UX Design by Jabez Roberts

The goal of this UX Design project is to design a user experience that will help viewers of the PBD Podcast have a better experience when watching Podcast episodes. It will also eliminate the problem of episodes being removed from YouTube because of political correctness and pandering.

This User Experience will make PBD Podcast episodes more accessible across the world, allowing episodes to be watched online and offline, and adding an audio-only format.

The Challenge:

PBD Podcast faces the issue of having its episodes removed from YouTube when sensitive issues are discussed. This causes a major reduction in the reach and impact of the podcast as well as subscriber satisfaction as missing some live streams can mean missing episodes entirely.

There is the added issue of episodes on YouTube being presented in a video-only format. This makes for poor accessibility for people in developing countries who don’t have ready access to the internet 24/7 and have to stream using mobile data.

Additionally, there isn’t an easy way to sort, categorize, and rank episodes to help new viewers find and ‘binge-watch/listen’ to the types of episodes that are most relevant to them and their goals.

The Research Goal:

The goal of this project is to develop a user experience that will make PBD Podcast more accessible to viewers and subscribers across the world. This project should allow users in developing countries with poor infrastructure and access to the internet to more easily and readily have access to the full range of PBD Podcast episodes.

MentorMe - Mentoring & Internship App Design by Jabez Roberts

The goal of this UX Design project is to design a user experience that will solve the problem of college students and graduates finding an internship or mentor to aid their career growth. This is a problem that I and my friends have faced at every turn of our career growth and one I would like to solve.

The Challenge:
Students at various universities and colleges across the world at times require field experience in their field of study before they can get their degrees. The problem is that students often struggle to secure an internship to help their careers. Additionally, the absence of mentors has often left students frustrated and directionless outside of the lecture theatre as they aim to enter the working world.

The Research Goal:

The goal of this research is to develop a user experience that will help students and recent graduates of universities and colleges across the world in their professional careers and development. Specifically, the user experience should help students find mentorship in their field of study by helping them connect with mentors. Additionally, the solution should help students find internship offers to help them gain experience in their fields of study.

Design A User Experience To Teach Teens Budgeting & Saving

I used the Progressive Enhancement process to first design and test a native mobile app. Once completed a responsive website complete with displays for mobile web, tablet, and desktop views were done.

The project was done as part of the Google UX Design course.

The Challenge:
Most families that are classified as poor and middle income are making enough money to afford a good standard of living, own a home, and plan for retirement. The problem is that they were never taught to properly handle money leading to a substandard lifestyle. Lack of financial education is leading families into poverty and privation.

The Research Goal:

The goal of HappyFinance in this project is to develop a platform that will teach low and middle-income teens proper financial and money-management education. This will play a massive role in increasing the financial health of the future generation.

Responsive Website - Home Rental Website

I designed a responsive website for a home rental business. The project was done as part of the Google UX Design course.

The Challenge:
There is a growing local real estate market with an emphasis on the growing need for rental properties for small families. Despite the size the quantity of renters and tenants there isn’t a safe, reliable, and easy way to connect them, and greatly simplifies the process of finding a safe and ideal place to rent.

The Research Goal:
The goal of this UX Design project is to design a responsive website to allow tenants to find a safe home to rent. This website should help tenants simplify the home rental process by contacting property owners and being able to make an offer online. Additionally, it should make it easy to determine how safe the property and location are before renting.

App Design - Catalog app for local florist

I designed a catalog app for a local trendy florist. The project was done as part of the Google UX Design course.

The Challenge:
Happy Flowers does not have any online presence or the ability to serve its customers online. Its competitors currently profit well from the online flower market. Happy Flowers would like to take the leap and provide an online platform that serves its customers.

The Result:
An app was developed for Happy Flowers that fulfilled its commercial needs. The app also adequately serves its customers by solving the core customer problems that were discovered during the research phase.
